Personal Biography

Liz is a clinical psychologist and founder of Alcova Therapy, a group practice in Charleston focused on providing evidence-based therapies to couples and individualadults. Liz received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from The University of Virginia and completed a clinical internship at the VA in Lexington, Kentucky. She completed a post- doctoral fellowship in couples and family therapy at the Ralph H. Johnson VA in Charleston and has called Charleston home since.

Liz specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples; an attachment-based approach that helps couples heal from the ground up by improving their sense of security with each other. She also uses this attachment lens to help people through the process of separation and divorce. Liz currently runs a biweekly online support group for women who are in the process of divorce or who have recently divorced.
